7/28/2020 0 Comments File a Lawsuit? Yea or Nay?There has been much discussion about filing lawsuits against Governor DeWine for various things - mandating masks, putting restrictions on worship services, closing businesses, etc. And that's fine, I'm glad someone is fighting back and holding him accountable.
But the thing I don't like is this: It always puts citizens on the defensive. He mandates, then we file lawsuits to get our rights back - rights that should never have been taken away to begin with. So even if we win, we end up where we started, with our rights intact again, but at what cost? We have to spend time uniting, mobilizing, deciding on a course of action, collecting funds, finding a good lawyer, filing papers... lots of money, time and effort goes into this. And what does DeWine have to do? Not much. He doesn't have to worry about paying legal fees, or spending much time on this, as he pretty much knows he's going to lose anyway. He doesn't care. From his point of view, I'm sure he's happy just to slow us down. (I firmly believe he's working with the Democrats or Soros or some anti-American entity to destroy Trump's economy and try to turn Ohio blue.) My point is - he's out NOTHING. It doesn't hurt him one bit to throw out whatever crazy "mandates" he wants because either people (sheeple) will shut up and do as they're told, or - worst case scenario - he gets taken to court and loses. Still, no big penalty for him, while we fight like hell. I'd rather play offense than defense. I've often advocated taking our case to social media (Twitter is especially good for this) to pressure (and embarrass) the legislature into doing their jobs and impeaching him. (In Ohio, the Governor and the Legislature cannot be "recalled", they must be impeached.) You may think "social media is nothing... it's not effective enough". Really? Then why did DeWine himself hire a company called Amplify Ohio to go onto social media and pay trolls to boost his reputation, and pretend to support his mandates, and pretend he's some kind of great guy for saving us from the dreaded Covid? Yes, that's what he did, so HE MUST think it's effective. I like the idea of turning it around on him and using social media not only to hammer on DeWine about his policies, but to hammer on the Legislature to DO THEIR JOBS. For anyone who's not up to speed, there is a very legitimate reason for requesting DeWine's removal from office. He corrupted the Ohio Primary election by changing the date of voting the night before the election, (changed it TWICE actually), even after a judge ruled that he could not (Judge Frye, Frankly County). He also changed the method of voting (by mail as opposed to in person). He did this with full knowledge that the Ohio Constitution states that only the General Assembly has the power to make such a decision. This is BIG. Our vote is our most important tool to communicate what kind of governance we want. Take that away and you take away our power and our choices - which I'm sure was purposeful. He needs to be removed.
