1/30/21 - Things We Can't Talk About

Picture
Censorship.  Not only is it happening, we aren't supposed to talk about it.

Facebook, Twitter, Google and other tech giants are censoring certain phrases, hashtags and discussions, such as #stopthesteal in regard to the recent coup... uh, I mean "election".   I'd say most of us on the conservative side have had our posts "flagged" for false information (even when it's factual), and/or had our accounts suspended for violating guidelines... which would be fine if the guidelines were fair.  But they're not - they're horribly imbalanced favoring the side of Leftists and so-called progressives.  Note:  I don't use "liberal" and "Leftist" interchangably.  They're different.  Dennis Prager (of Prager U.) has a really good video that addresses this issue.

During the week surrounding the 2021 Inauguration, I had my own Facebook account suspended for a week, (first time EVER for me) and when I tried to ascertain the reasoning behind it, they cited a post of mine from last August that was "fact-checked" and said to contain false information.  From August!  That's really stretching.

You're not allowed to even suggest that the "election" might have been stolen, or talk about voting irregularities (supposedly because this was not "proven".  But the courts worked against the evidence ever being heard.  There WAS evidence.)

Social media platforms like Parler for example, have been completely de-platformed and essentially put out of business.  Why? Contrary to the narrative that it's because they only represent conservative speech, it's actually because they represent FREE speech - which is a BAD thing to the Left.  I saw plenty of discussions on Parler where liberals jumped in to debate issues, and even used their typical fall-back position of name-calling and being personally insulting, but I never heard even one liberal complain that their account had been suspended because of expressing an unpopular opinion.

To the Left, FREE speech is bad.  You should only be able to express "correct" opinions and values - and THEY define "correct".  As much as they used to complain about Trump being Nazi-like, that's a classic example of the pot calling the kettle black.  That's downright Pravda-worthy.

Some BIG names in conservative media (Glenn Beck, Steven Crowder, Milo Yiannopoulos, Breitbart, InfoWars, Tommy Robinson, Zero Hedge, The Federalist, Oath Keepers, James O'Keefe of Project Veritas, Katie Hopkins, just to name a few) have either BEEN de-platformed or have been threatened with same.

I've noticed lately that some of them have been tip-toeing around the subject of election fraud.  They won't even discuss it outright.  Why?  I think they've either been threatened or they see what is happening to others who speak out, and they're scared.

This is definitely a scary time in US history.  But we have to at least try to push back and not allow our voices to be silenced.  Find other First-Amendment-friendly social media.  Find 1A friendly web hosts, use email that doesn't collect and sell your data (I recommend ProtonMail), and so on.  Give your business to other conservatives.  It's up to us to make choices that support freedom.

Thanks for reading.
